Area rodeo enthusiasts will receive a treat Saturday when the Justa Cowboy Association will roll through Natchez to provide entertainment, fun and laughter for an evening.
Some of the areas top cowboys will participate in a variety of events, ranging from bronc riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing and more at Natchez’s Wayne Johnson Covered Arena.
“Cowboys from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and some of Georgia and Alabama will be competing,” event promoter Isaac King said. “You’re talking about some of the best cowboys around, some real top-notch cowboys.”
Saturday’s showcase will mark the second year the rodeo has made a stop in the area as approximately 3,500 attended last year’s event.
“Last year went real well,” King said. “I think people enjoyed enough for them to want to come back this year.”
Saturday’s visit to Natchez marks the fourth and final JCA event this year, as the association has made previous stops in Philadelphia, Tupelo and Gonzales, La.
King said cowboys have been competing all year long for a chance at the grand prize of a new four-wheeler.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate, $12 for adults and $7 for children.
Fans who bring a perishable food item for flood victims will be entered into a raffle contest, with the winner taking home Alcorn State football and basketball season tickets.
The event starts at 8 p.m. with the gates opening at 6 p.m.
