Trinity takes down Silliman in opening game

It was an extra day in the making, but Trinity Episcopal and head coach Graham Roberts earned their first win of the season Saturday, 29-14
“It feels really good,” Roberts said. “Our kids busted their tails, that’s a proud moment for me.”
Saturday’s game was delayed because of complications with recent flooding in the Clinton area. Roberts said several Silliman families had lost almost everything they own in the flooding.
“These people down here have had a tough time and the community was struggling,” Roberts said.
Trinity leaned on the arm of Kevontaye Caston to carve up the Silliman defense. After turning a broken play into an 84-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, Caston connected to Trey Russell for a 20-yard touchdown pass to give the Saints a 15-6 lead at halftime.
The senior quarterback was 17-for-25 for 222 yards and a touchdown pass.
“He was really feeling it,” Roberts said. “A good friend of mine gave me good advice and told me if something’s working stick with it.”
Dee Fleming led the Saints in receiving with four receptions for 58 yards.
Trinity (1-0) will travel to Canton Academy next week.
