VIDALIA — A Monterey man pleaded not guilty Thursday to four counts of sexual battery in the Louisiana Seventh Judicial District Court.
James Don Mulvihill, 59, was arrested in July by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office after allegedly being beaten by Stanley Vernon Schickel, 44, 218 Bailey Circle, Ferriday. Schickel was also charged in July with false imprisonment, attempted second-degree murder and a probation hold.
Mulvihill is alleged to have lured a 16-year-old Monterey boy into his trailer to perform inappropriate acts for him multiple times during the week before Mulvihill’s beating and subsequent arrest.
The juvenile was reportedly able to identify a smiley face tattoo, which officials said was not easily visible which meant the teen may have been specifically exposed to it.
Schickel is alleged to have tied up Mulvihill in a chair and beat him after learning about the alleged sexual acts. Officials would not comment on whether or not Schickel was related to the alleged juvenile victim.
Division A Assistant District Attorney Ann Siddall said the trial of motions in this case is set for Sept. 22.
Mulvihill was in the Concordia Parish Jail Thursday on an $80,000 bond.
