FERRIDAY — Services for Alfred Lewis Corkern, 71, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, in Ferriday, will be 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Jerry Sharp officiating.
Burial will follow at New Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Corkern was born Sept. 21, 1944, in Amite, La., the son of John Jefferson Corkern and Vickie Stephens Corkern.
He was retired from Concordia Electric after 44 years of service.
Mr. Corkern served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Patricia Corkern; one brother, John Corkern; and three stepbrothers.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Judy Loomis Corkern; three sons, Chris Corkern and wife, Marcy, of Alapaha, Ga., Brad Corkern of Vidalia and Davis Corkern and wife, Kellie, of Port Allen, La.; six sisters, Vernell Seals and husband, Roy, Shirley Holden and Barbara Rae Cox, all of Amite, La., Margaret Ann Seal of Franklinton, La., Vickie Loomis and husband, George, of Ferriday and Sue Robertson and husband, Roy, of Kentwood, La.; three grandsons, Marshall, Colton and Caleb Corkern; six granddaughters, Laney, Sydney, Carmen, Landry, Chloe and Kennedy Corkern; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be employees of Concordia Electric.
