Tradition, pride, spirit, sportsmanship. These are all traits inherent in high school sports programs. Trinity Episcopal School has a tradition of not only producing winning sports teams, but also enjoys a loyal and proud fan base.
Trinity has seen many positive changes for the upcoming school year. Interim headmaster, the Rev. Paul Andersen, has been busy putting together an innovative team on all fronts.
The athletic director for the school is Andy Blair. The football program has been re-imagined with Graham Roberts bringing new energy as head football coach. His assistants, George Jenkins III, Andy Blair, Timothy McKnight, Jason Wisner and Elliot Meng all have unique talents to lead the Trinity Saints. Team managers Jasmine Ivory, Ja’Mescya Queen and Rearrna Mayberry will lend positive support. They are ready to “raise the bar.” The announcer for this season is Cole Brown. Film chief is Curtis Moroney. Both of these men are Trinity graduates. Kent Knee, a Trinity fixture, keeps the stats for the team.
The Lady Saints softball team began their season with Faye Minor providing positive leadership. Their home field this year will be at the Vidalia sports complex. The girls always welcome fans to attend their games.
Under the direction of Robin Bertrand, the junior varsity/varsity cheer squads have been hard at work since last spring. Their success during cheer camp at Mississippi College was superior. The squads earned many accolades and awards. Both squads ended the week by receiving an invitation to participate in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl.
Trinity is ready to celebrate. Please join the Trinity family at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday for Meet the Saints! Players will be introduced from the 2016 Lady Saints junior varsity/varsity softball teams, junior varsity/ varsity football teams, junior varsity/varsity cheer squads, and Little Cherubs/Little Angels dance teams.
The coaches and Father Andersen encourage all alumni to come back and remember what it felt like to Meet the Saints! The anticipation of a brand new year with fantastic new possibilities as seen through the eyes of youth can make us all reminisce on our own school years.
Trinity looks forward to a wonderful year full of great moments and school camaraderie. To learn more about the Trinity Saints teams, download schedules, and find out more about the school, visit our website www.trinitysaints.org. or visit our Facebook page — Trinity Saints.
The invitation is extended to the community to attend Meet the Saints! We will have fellowship following the presentations. It is a great time to meet new coaches, faculty, staff and students. Saint Pride.
