Locals complete national pandemic planning course

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Emergency Responder Capt. Tom McGehee, from the Natchez Police Department, and Nan McGehee, from Co-Lin Natchez, recently completed pandemic influenza planning and preparedness training offered by the Center for Domestic Preparedness.
The CDP is operated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Tom is the training coordinator for the Natchez Police Department. As part of his duties he is the department liaison with community organizations. As such he coordinates organization’s pandemic planning with the Natchez Police Department support.
Nan is an instructor in the science department on the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Natchez Campus. Her role from this training is to provide information to students and staff about pandemic prevention and response.
The Pandemic Influenza Planning and Preparedness course is a three-day training class providing an overview of pandemic influenza, its challenges, and many facets of community planning that will enable a community to prepare and effectively respond to a pandemic influenza event.
