GLOSTER — Services for Lurlene Havard Ashley, 95, of Crosby, who died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hopewell Methodist Church with the Rev. Toby Jones and Dr. Dennis Johnsey officiating.
Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Ashley was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of William and Reva Ashley Havard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas N. Ashley; five sisters, Mamie Joseph, Juanita Redmond, Thelma White, Alma Netterville and Ruby Mathis; nine brothers, Curtis Havard, Murdock “JayBird” Havard, Lawrence Havard, Harold Havard, Herman Havard, Luther Havard, Jack Havard, Steve Havard and A.J. Havard; and one son-in-law, Robert Whitehead Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. Ashley and wife, Gerrie, of Denham Springs, La., and Sidney D. Ashley of Crosby; one daughter, Reba Whitehead of Woodville; eight grandchildren, Dolly Ashley, Thomas W. Ashley Jr. and wife, Tammy, Randall K. Ashley and wife, Tracy, Roxanne Gardner and husband, Nathan, Robert Whitehead III and wife, Frances, Matthew Whitehead and wife, Maria, Brandon Ashley and wife, Tiffany, and Carrie Freeman and husband, Aaron; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Ashley, Robert Whitehead, Matthew Whitehead, Thomas Ashley Jr., Aaron Freeman and Nathan Gardner.
