NATCHEZ — The Miss-Lou’s economic development team has made the playoffs a few times, but never won the Super Bowl.

At least that’s how one official put it Monday when representatives from the Natchez Board of Aldermen, Adams County Board of Supervisors, Natchez Inc., local industries and others met to discuss the state of economic development in the area.

Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell and Supervisors President Mike Lazarus said they called the meeting to allow local officials to sit down at one table and talk about how they can assist Natchez Inc. in its economic development efforts.

Grennell said it was also a chance for first-time aldermen, who took office July 1, to learn more about Natchez Inc.

Natchez Inc. Executive Director Chandler Russ gave a presentation about the structure, leadership, funding and management of Natchez Inc.

Russ also fielded questions from officials and audience members about various aspects of Natchez Inc.’s work as it related to boards of aldermen and supervisors, including communication, retail development, port operations, marketing and more.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Grennell requested that Russ organize a tour of local industrial operations for public officials.
