Weekend ticket: Food, wine festival set to begin Friday

NATCHEZ — Hope you came hungry.
Entertain yourself this weekend with food, food and more food as the Natchez Food and Wine Festival kicks off Friday night.
Friday expect partly cloudy skies with a high of 91 and lows in the low 70s, but rain will take over for Saturday and Sunday with similar high and low temperatures.
Natchez Food and Wine Festival
The annual Natchez Food and Wine Festival will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Friday with “Tastings Along the Mississippi River” at the Natchez Convention Center.
Get the chance to taste food and drinks from different chefs and vendors while enjoying the company of more than 700 locals and visitors as well as live music.
After Friday night’s fun, a slew of other festival activities are in store throughout the weekend including wine and cheese tasting at The Castle, dinner at Dunleith, The Elms or The Towers, and a host of other events.

Mae Holyoak and Friends Lemonade Stand
Come out and cool off for a good cause Friday afternoon with a glass of lemonade from Mae and her pals as they raise money to help out the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.
The idea started nine years ago with hopes to buy a single dog bed for the NACHS, and has grown every year since.
The sale starts at 11 a.m. Friday and will last until 3 p.m. at the Natchez Convention Center.
Lemonade, baked goods and T-shirts will be for sale as well as items donated from the community.
Natchez Legends and Lore
Natchez Legends and Lore will turn its focus to Fort Rosalie and French Natchez Monday.
Vin Steponaitis will walk the audience through the history of the first Europeans to inhabit Natchez.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at The Vue and is free and open to the public.
