NATCHEZ — Three people were injured early Thursday morning in an apparent drive-by shooting in the 500 block of West Stiers Lane.

Natchez Police Lt. Kenneth Stampley said two men were reportedly talking to a woman sitting in a car parked off West Stiers Lane shortly before 3 a.m. when shots were fired at them from a passing car.

Two of the victims were airlifted to a hospital for a treatment, and one was treated locally.

Stampley did not know the extent of the victims’ injuries, but said he did not think they were life-threatening.

The shooting marks at least the 10th shooting in Natchez and Adams County in the past month, and happened just a few hours after four people were shot Wednesday night on Fieldview Drive in the Cranfield area.

Toby Surrena, 31, was charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the Fieldview Drive shooting.

No arrests have been made in the West Stiers Lane shooting. Stampley said the shooting remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
