FAYETTE — Services for Robert “Tom” Ballard, 75, of Lorman, who died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in Lorman, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hollywood Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Richard Cruel officiating.
Burial will follow at the Jessamine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today at the funeral home with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m.
Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Ballard was born June 5, 1941, in Jefferson County, the son of James Ballard Sr. and Ida Jones Ballard.
Mr. Ballard was a retired security officer at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
He was a member of Jessamine Ridge Baptist Church and served as chairman of the deacon board.
Mr. Ballard enjoyed fishing, watching sports, grilling and frying turkeys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Emanuel Gaines, James Ballard Jr. and Norman “Joe” Ballard.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Ballard; two sons, Robert Thomas Ballard Jr. and Ken Ballard and wife, Myeshia; one daughter, Patricia D. Smith; one sister, Mary McElroy; and grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
