ALEXANDRIA — The Concordia Machine-pitch All-Stars finished their state tournament with a rough final day, losing to the Shreveport Nationals 21-2 in Game 1 and losing to Union Parish 13-8 in Game 2.
“The first game we showed up but we didn’t show up,” coach Terence Williams said. “We weren’t ready to play. ”
In Game 2 Williams said Concordia jumped out to an early 4-1 lead, but the fell silent until the fifth inning. It was too little too late, according to Williams.
“We made a lot of errors in that game and we couldn’t hit the ball,” Williams said.
Williams said he was proud of how far the team had come from the beginning of the summer.
“All in all, since district, we’ve done great,” Williams said. “I can’t take anything away from them. They’re 7 and 8 year old kids, they’re learning every day.”
