NATCHEZ — Services for Laura Ruth Tracy Lipscomb, 80, a former resident of Natchez, who died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Tracy officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lipscomb was born Nov. 18, 1935, in Natchez, the daughter of Ralph and Laura Tracy.
She was raised and lived in Natchez for 37 years before moving to the Jackson Metro area. She married David Lipscomb Jr., June 1953, and they had 59 wonderful years of marriage until his death in July 2012.
Ruth was extremely creative, a talented seamstress and artist. She was retired after a successful career with Deposit Guaranty Mortgage. A devout Christian, Ruth loved the Lord, and was an avid Bible reader and enjoyed her Bible study groups. She adored her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Dorothy Tracy Bradshaw and Mary Tracy Allen.
Survivors include one son, David A. “Butch” Lipscomb III and wife, Wanda; one daughter, Roslyn “Rosie” Lewis and husband, Randy; five grandchildren, Chad Lipscomb, Tate Lipscomb, Bret Lipscomb, Ryan Lewis and Reid Lewis; three brothers, Ralph Tracy Jr., Harold Tracy and wife Sherrill, and Thomas “Tommy” Tracy and wife, Debbie; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Allen; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.
