VIDALIA— The Concordia Parish Police Jury voted Monday to keep parish property tax millage rates largely unchanged for the next fiscal year.
Secretary/Treasurer Kevin Friloux said the actual millage rates are decreasing maybe a hundredth a point, but it was only because assessed property values in the parish went up.
“We are required to only generate the same amount of money,” Friloux said. “It was adjusted downward, but not by much, so we could generate the same amount of money.”
The tax for general alimony is set at 2.25 mills; the library tax, 8.41 mills; drainage works and buildings tax, 9.90; health unit tax, 1.79 mills; Council on Aging tax, 3.96 mills.
The tax rate was passed unanimously, 9-0, without comment.
