The Sadie V. Thompson Era Reunion participants will be celebrating their 21st year extravaganza Thursday through Sunday. The planning committees have been working diligently to make this reunion the best ever. Former students from all over the United States will be coming to Natchez. They will be coming by trains, planes, buses or cars to see classmates, old friends and family.
These participants will reminisce about their times together and the persons they have become. Seeing friends bring it all back to the good-old days.
The SVT Era Reunion is a cherished tradition for students from Sadie V. Thompson, St. Francis and Natchez College. This reunion reconnects us to revisit old memories and to create new ones during their four days together.
President Phillip West and Vice President Gloria Young encourage the younger generation to become an active role in the reunion, to carry the torch for years to come.
All activities will be at the Natchez Convention Center. From noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, participants can register and souvenirs can be picked up.
Friday begins with a motorcade at 4:30 p.m. from the old Sadie V. Thompson School to the convention center. The Grand Marshall will be newly-elected Mayor Darryl V. Grennell. The annual picnic starts at 5 p.m. This event is for invited friends and family. The picnic will be on the Natchez bluff.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, the group will meet at Sadie V. Thompson to unveil the historic marker from the Era.
After a morning of golfing, all roads lead to the Black and White Ball. Participants will listen, dance and mingle, reliving their experiences from their respective schools.
At 3 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Baptist Church, there will be an evening of unity. After four days of embracing past times and creating fond memories, the participants will return to their respective destinations, awaiting their return to Natchez for the next SVT Era Reunion in 2018.
