Weekend Ticket: Theater, garden tour highlight hot weekend

NATCHEZ — Natchez can expect a hot, sunny weekend with plenty of summer fun.
High temperatures will be in the lower 90s and lows in the lower 70s throughout the weekend.
Friday will have a 6-percent chance of rain, Saturday a 40-percent chance and Sunday a 25-percent chance.
The Little Mermaid
The Natchez Little Theatre’s 12th Annual Summer Youth Workshop will offer its production of the Disney musical, “The Little Mermaid,” this weekend at the theater.
The musical is loosely based on the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Ariel, youngest daughter of King Triton, is dissatisfied with life in the sea and dreams of going on land. Even though Ursula the Sea Witch helps Ariel get to land, where she meets and falls in love with a human prince, Ursula has bigger plans to destroy this little mermaid and exact revenge on her father.
The cast consists of local youth and adults.
Show times are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Master Gardeners garden tour
A garden tour sponsored by Master Gardeners of Adams County will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at a garden located at 113 Parkview Drive.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn techniques and see the vegetable garden, blueberry patch, chickens and native plants.
Red Cross fundraiser
The Red Cross annual fish fry fundraiser will be at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Parkway Baptist Church parking lot.

Natchez Scottish Heritage
A meeting celebrating Scottish heritage will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.
Members and those who are interested in learning about Scottish heritage are welcome.
Explore Camp: Ancient Weapons
A children’s class on ancient weapons will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Historic Jefferson College.
Kids ages 12 to 14 will have the opportunity to learn how ancient peoples hunted, protected themselves and waged war. Cost is $15.
Lil Pup Cheerleading Camp
A children’s cheerleading camp will be offered daily from 8 a.m. to noon from Monday through July 1 at the Steckler Building.
The camp is for ages 2 to 13, and is sponsored by the Natchez High School cheerleaders.
