JACKSON — Services for Beverly Diane Kennon, 50, of Flowood, who died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at her residence, will be 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Jackson.
Burial will follow at the Natchez Trace Memorial Park in Madison under the direction of Natchez Trace Funeral Home in Madison.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time today at the church.
A native of Biloxi, Diane graduated from Biloxi High School in 1984, and played trumpet in the band. She made a profession of faith making Jesus Christ her Savior at an early age. She attended First Baptist Church of Biloxi where she loved singing in the youth choir. She was also a member of the One Way Singers.
Mrs. Kennon received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Mississippi College in 1990, and served as president of the Mississippi College chapter of the Student Nurses Association from 1988 to 1990. She also served as vice president of the State of Mississippi Nurses Association from 1988 to 1989.
Diane met Dale Kennon in the summer of 1989, and they were married August 1990 and began a life focused on serving Jesus as their Savior.
Diane resumed her love for playing the trumpet in 2005, as a member of the First Baptist Church orchestra and soon joined the Mississippi Community Symphonic Band and the Mississippi Baptist Church of Jackson, where she served in the sanctuary choir, Sunday school and Mission Friends.
Throughout her nursing career, Diane worked at the University Medical Center, G.I. Associates, Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and for the past 10 years, served as an NCLEX review instructor with Hurst Review Services.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years; one daughter, Riley Elizabeth Kennon; one son, Joshua Berry Kennon; her mother, Bobbie Jean Yelverton; one sister, Stephanie Jean Graham; five nieces; and two nephews.
