NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Virginia Lee “Jenny” Springs Gardner Bufkin, 83, of Natchez, who died peacefully Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Merit Health Natchez , will be 2 p.m. today at the Natchez City Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Brewer officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Bufkin was born on Oct. 6, 1932, in Franklin County, the daughter of Floyd and Mary Lou Springs.
She was a graduate of Auburn High School where she was a star basketball player. She married Harold Gardner and they had four daughters.
Jenny worked in retail sales and also worked for her youngest daughter, Dianne Kirby, owner of Dianne’s Frame Shop for a number of years. She and Harold coached and played softball with their daughters and many of their friends.
Mrs. Bufkin was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Guy, Milton, Clyde, Jack and Peewee Springs.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Douglas, EJ Isbell, Chareleane Keller and Dianne Kirby; two sons-in-law, Kent Kirby and Murray Warnick, all of Natchez; her soulmate and friend, Jack Hude and his son, John; one sister, Joel Albritton of Tallahassee, Fla.; four grandchildren, Doug Johnson and wife, Shannon, of McKinney, Texas, Trey Isbell and wife, Crystal, Matt Isbell, Callie Godfrey and husband, Kolby, all of Natchez; and six great-grandchildren, Mary Carson, Noah, Ethan, Holt, Heath and Phoebe.
Pallbearers will be Doug Johnson, Trey Isbell, Matt Isbell, Kolby Godfrey, Michael Springs and Sam Kirby.
Mrs. Bufkin’s daughters extend special thanks to the staff at Crown Health and Rehabilitation.
