NATCHEZ — A private family graveside service will be Wednesday for Dorothy Rose Dennis, 84, a native of Natchez, who died June 11, 2016.

Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dennis was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Natchez, the daughter of William Floyd and Bertie Floyd.

She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She enjoyed trying new recipes, reading magazines and was quite the avid Scrabble player.

Mrs. Dennis had a true passion for worshipping the Lord. She had a smile and kind word to say each time you saw her. She loved sending cards to let others know she was thinking of them. She always wanted to make sure everyone had enough to eat and she always saved room for dessert.

Mrs. Dennis was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Dennis; her parents; and one brother, Percy William Floyd.

Survivors include one son, Stan Dennis and wife, Debbie, of Asheville, N.C.; two daughters, Julie Dennis of Hot Springs, Ark., and Lori Gill and husband, Michael, of Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Doris Lee of Natchez and Dolores French and husband, Albert Lee, of Ferriday; seven grandchildren, Lana Dennis Jones, Alissa Gill Pointer, Lindsey Dennis Clark, Kristi Gill Booker, Bobby Joe Dennis, Joseph Michael Gill and Maggie Claire Dennis; and six great-grandchildren, Molly Clark, Evelyn Rose Jones, Lilly Clark, Bella Clark, Finley Pointer and Colin Booker.
