Nov. 4, 1937 – May 25, 2016

JONESVILLE — Services for J. Tuffy Parish, 79, who died Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in Alexandria, La., will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Jonesville with the Rev. Jack Colclasure and the Rev. Truman Stagg officiating.

Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Jena, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Mr. Parish was born Nov. 4, 1937, in Jonesville, the son of Dewey and Lucia Parish.

He was a lifelong resident of Jonesville.

Tuffy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea where he was a military police investigator assigned to the criminal investigation division. After military service, Tuffy came back to Jonesville and worked in commercial manufacturing. He was one of the founding members of Panola Woods Country Club as well as the longest standing member of First United Methodist Church of Jonesville, where he was baptized.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was a well respected member of the community and will be dearly missed.

Mr. Parish was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred Parish.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ginger Nell Parish; one daughter, Lily Dawn Harvey of Jonesville; one son, James Parish and wife, Angie, of Jonesville; three granddaughters, Heather Rachel Haynes and husband, Jacob, Camille Harvey and Abby Parish; two grandsons, Zach Harvey and Truman Parish; a number of nieces, nephews; and special brother-in-law, Bill Atkins.

Pallbearers will be Bill Atkins, Barney Atkins, Curt Parish, David Parish, Austin Richard, John Chisum, Clay Fairbanks and Jacob Haynes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bill Coney, Clarence Richard, Leo Boothe, Sonny Davis, William Atkins, John Love, Truman Parish and Abby Parish.
