NATCHEZ — The Natchez Police Department investigated the discovery of a suspicious package — which some believed could have been a bomb — at the Doctor’s Pavilion adjacent to Merit Health Natchez Tuesday.
Natchez Police Chief Danny White said Tuesday afternoon the package was determined not to be explosive.
White said the hospital called NPD Tuesday morning to report a suspicious package about the size of a soda can wrapped in black plastic discovered in one of the Doctor’s Pavilion’s public bathrooms. White said a man found the package Tuesday morning and brought it to the attention of the staff at the Doctor’s Pavilion.
The package was removed from the premises and has been take to a remote location, White said.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol and other state authorities have been called to investigate, White said.
