VIDALIA —Concordia Parish School Schools will expand the amount of emergency information collected from students and parents next year.
“We have to be provided certain information about every student and keep that information confidential,” Concordia Parish School Board Interim Superintendent Loretta Blankenstein said at Thursday night’s school board meeting.
The district will assign a state identification number to each student upon enrollment, in accordance with the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements.
The information collected includes parent or guardian work phone numbers; home phone numbers; the most appropriate number at which to contact a parent or guardian in case of an emergency; the name, address and phone number of the student’s physician; the names of authorized persons who can check out students; and standardized health forms will need to be completed.
The medical forms will provide pertinent health, medical and emergency contact information.
The board passed the policy unanimously with Jeffrey Goodman absent.
In other news, Gloria Dangerfield purchased a portable classroom approximately the size of an 18-wheeler trailer from Ferriday High School for $50. The district sold the portable classroom because it has severe roof problems.
The building once served the JROTC program, but Director of Business Affairs Tom O’Neal said the school needed to dispose of the now unused and damaged trailer. Dangerfield’s was the lone bid.
