HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Services for Murlee Mayberry, 89, who died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in Hutchinson, Kan., at Hospice House, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Father’s House, 1505 E. 20th Avenue.
Burial will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park under the direction of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Hutchinson.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Mayberry was born April 10, 1927, in Leesdale, the daughter of Quitman and Laura James Scott.
After giving her heart to God at an early age, Mother Mayberry united with the St. Peter Rock Baptist Church in Leesdale and served as a deaconess and mother of the church. She also sang in the choir.
She married M.C. Mayberry Sr., July 20, 1946, in Natchez. They moved to Hutchinson in 1988, where they united with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and later united with the Second Missionary Baptist Church, there she served as a church mother until her death.
Mrs. Mayberry was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers; one sister; and one son, Marshall Mayberry.
Survivors include three sons, M.C. Mayberry Jr. of Eldorado, Kan., George Mayberry and wife, Barbara, of Pasadena, Calif., and Edward Mayberry and wife, Cecilia, of Hutchinson; two daughters, Jewel Williams and husband, Bill, of Victorville, Calif., and Martha Hill and husband, Charles, of Hutchinson; five sisters; two brothers; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
