NATCHEZ — Services for Leon “Button” Jackson, 58, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Baptist Church with the Rev. James Washington officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m.
Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until service Friday at the church.
Mr. Jackson was born Jan. 14, 1958, in Natchez, the son of Ruben Logan Jr. and Camille Carter-Green. He was raised by his grandparents, Dave Jackson and Aselena Jackson.
Leon was a 1976 graduate of North Natchez High School. After graduating, he became a member of the U.S. Army. He was later employed by Johns-Manville and was presently employed by Walmart.
Mr. Jackson was a member of St. Charles Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the H.R. Revels Lodge.
Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his stepfather, Odell Carter; and one sister, Brenda Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn Sullivan-Jackson; his mother; his father; two sons, Deleondazz Jackson and wife, Ericka, and Dashard Jackson and wife, Quankeia; three daughters, Angelita Jones and husband, Johnathan, Marquesa Cooper and husband, Christopher, and Athen Feggons and companion, Monica; four brothers, Mitchell Jackson and wife, Hilda, Odell Carter III and wife, Jery, Steven Carter and wife, Amelda, and Michael Carter; three sisters, Melissa Bouldin, Mary Ann Green and husband, Larry, and Felicia Haley; goddaughter, Kelsea Wright; and other relatives and friends.
