VIDALIA — A Ferriday inmate may face more jail time after allegedly punching a corrections officer Friday.
Jeremy Tee’Youn Keys, 21, 707 Delaware Ave., Ferriday, was at the Concordia Parish Work Release facility for manufacture or distribution of schedule I drugs.
Keys reportedly punched the officer in the face several times before he was subdued. Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office public information officer Vernon Stevens said Keys was transferred to the jail facility on Louisiana 15 and put on lock down.
Stevens said he did not know what exactly caused the altercation, but he alleges the inmate instigated it.
Keys was arrested in March 2015 and was serving a 4-year sentence for his original charge.
The corrections officer had facial lacerations and a black eye after the incident but did not have to go to the hospital, Stevens said.
