Strong showing at meet?

JACKSON — Natchez High School will be represented today when the MHSAA Class 5A state tennis meet continues.

Kirdis Clark advanced to today’s action with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Carley Cochran of Wayne County, while mixed doubles Bailey Butler and Jaylen Grennell beat Hayden Embry and Anna Spears of Neshoba Central 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 to advance.

Butler and Grennell will play Abbie Vaughn and Max Mauney of Oxford, while Clark will face off against Grace Ann Jones, also of Oxford.

Clark’s match is slated for a 9 a.m. start while the mixed doubles is slated to begin at approximately 10 a.m.

In other matches, Natchez’s Brandon Butler lost to Gus Morgan of Oxford 0-6, 0-6, and Kelsey McNeal and Danyel Weir fell to Amanda Lowery and Anne Hardy of Oxford 1-6, 1-6.
