If you have ever wanted an evening full of classic songs reinvented with explosive energy and contemporary flare, then you want to make sure you do not miss the Broadway Boys. Created in 2005 to perform only for one night, they decided to continue working together after a sold out performance. Having six members, the Broadway Boys have been able to explore harmonies that are not heard on Broadway often.
The Broadway Boys are a collection of some of Broadway’s finest male singers. With their additional elements such as pop, gospel and jazz to traditional show tunes, The Broadway Boys have redefined the musical theater genre. Representing shows such as, “The Book of Mormon,” “Wicked,” “Kinky Boots,” “Motown,” “Jersey Boys,” “Mamma Mia,” “Mary Poppins,” “Hair,” “Hairspray” and many others, The Broadway Boys have vast experience. They have toured around the country playing in various venues from large to small, on radio shows and at corporate events.
The show “Jersey Boys” is an award winning Broadway musical that is based on the band “The Four Seasons,” and is named such since all the founding members hailed from New Jersey. The Four Seasons were led by the one and only Frankie Valli. The music of the Jersey Boys will bring back memories!
This program is co-sponsored by Vidalia Conference and Convention Center and made possible because of a “block booking” through The Louisiana Partnership for the Arts’ Presenters Network and supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Arts Council of Central Louisiana.
The Broadway Boys put entertainment and style over substance. This is a new way of experiencing Broadway. So come and enjoy something new at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. This performance is free and open to the public and is provided by Concordia Parish Library as one of their cultural enrichment opportunities.
Charles Chauvin is a Vidalia and a retired Concordia Parish School Superintendent.
