FRANKLIN, Tenn. — A funeral mass for Dr. Ray Phillip Carroll Sr., 77, of Franklin, Tenn., who died Monday, April 25, 2016, will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Rev. Marneni Bala Showraiah, O.S.M., officiating.

Burial will follow at Williamson Memorial Gardens under the direction of Williamson Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church.

Ray received his doctorate in administration and supervision from the University of Louisiana Monroe. He was a trumpet player with Danny Davis and the Nashville Brass when they won seven Emmy Awards and were inducted into the County Music Hall of Fame.

Ray was also Boot Randolph’s “Mr. Sax” trumpet player, conductor and arranger. He owned the Jack Daniels Silver Coronet Band and also played in it for a number of years.

Mr. Carroll was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Helen Neas Carroll; one sister, Flossie Frances Allen; and one brother, Gene Lee Carroll.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Barrett Clark Carroll; three sons, Ray “Beau” Phillip Carroll Jr. and wife, Susan, and Tim Carroll and wife, Sarah, all of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Jeff Carroll and wife, Stephanie, of Franklin; one daughter, Julie Ann Zamudio and husband, Louis, of Murfreesboro; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
