NATCHEZ — The Word of Faith Ambassadors Worship Center will wrap up their “The Experience” conference Sunday at their Natchez location on South Shields Lane. This year’s conference, themed “The Time of Re,” is all about promoting a “re” of some kind in the lives the attendees.
Word of Faith Associate Pastor, Dr. Robbie Cade-Furdge says she has hope the conference will speak to its target age group of 18-38 year olds in such a way that they may leave with a better understanding of their purpose and the way to achieve it.
“While we are gearing the conference to participants in this age range we are certainly not limiting it to just those in that age group,” Cade-Furdge said. “We are not going to turn anyone anyway, but we know that this particular age group is usually missed in church.”
Cade-Furdge said this group is always busy and they want to provide positive guidance to them as they are the ones who are going to school, starting careers, getting married, starting families and more.
“Most churches have an amazing youth group and once people hit college age, they leave for school,” Cade-Furdge said. “They don’t necessarily make bad choices but many of them are struggling and we want to help get them on a path and keep them moving and steer them in the right direction.”
The conference began from a prayer call Cade-Furdge began with some of her friends in ministry. The team, “Team Experience,” has members from nearly fifteen different denominations and twenty-five states. It is an outreach ministry of the Word of Faith Church which has three locations: Natchez, Mississippi, Ferriday, Louisiana and North Dallas, Texas.
“I just felt I needed to pray for people,” Cade-Furdge said. “From the call we started the conference and here we are going strong seven years later.”
Cade-Furdge has a concern for her generation and wants to see a change in the lives of people attending the conference. She said she wants to see hearts change and people take responsibility for their lives and understand they need to take action even after prayer.
“I want people to leave this conference with some type of ‘re-’ such as a ‘refreshing,’ or ‘restoring,’” Cade-Furdge said. “I am very concerned about my generation and the direction it is heading in and I want to see some change such as families restored and marriages restored. I want them to have the necessary tools they need to make better choices in their life.”
The conference has several sessions left. Today’s events will begin 8 a.m. with a time of prayer. The break-out sessions will begin at 9 a.m. There will be a break for lunch followed by a keynote speaker at 1 p.m. and more events in the evening beginning at 6 p.m.
“Saturday during the day we will have more of the small group sessions. There will be singles sessions, couples sessions finance sessions and more,” Cade-Furdge said. “Our evening sessions will have some groups and generally assembly as well.”
The overall goal of the conference is to empower, encourage, teach and train young people to be better stewards financially; to walk in their purpose, to fulfill their calling on their life and to be the best they can be.
While the event is free, those attending the conference are encouraged to register on the website so the conference organizers will know the attendance. The website is www.teamexp.org. Anyone wishing to do so may make a love offering at the conference.
