NATCHEZ — An Adams County teen has been indicted in connection to a death that resulted from what officials have characterized as a gun game.
Jeffery Lindell Blanton Jr., 17, 708 Morgan Ave., was booked into the Adams County Jail Thursday on a warrant on a charge of second-degree murder.
An Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said the warrant was issued after an Adams County grand jury indicted Blanton, who was initially arrested on the charge in December.
The killing happened at approximately 12:20 a.m. Dec. 13, 2015, when a group of juveniles were playing dominoes in the Mount Carmel Drive area of Morgantown, police said at the time.
Blanton allegedly started playing with a revolver, placing a single bullet in the cylinder and spinning it to play a game of Russian roulette.
After aiming the gun at the ground, Blanton allegedly pointed it at Justin Williams Jr., 17, before pulling the trigger.
When the gun went off, the bullet passed through Williams’ hand and hit him in the chest.
Williams was pronounced dead at Merit Health Natchez at 1:10 a.m. that morning.
Blanton was detained without bond Wednesday afternoon.
