BROOKHAVEN — After being shut out by a good Loyd Star team in its season opener two weeks ago, Cathedral head coach Craig Beesley decided to go to a triple option offense in hopes of getting the running game going.

Unfortunately, that would not be the case as the Green Wave was held to 81 yards on 28 carries in a 13-6 loss to the Enterprise Lincoln Yellow Jackets Friday night.

“We’re having trouble with our blocking. We’ve just got to execute,” Beesley said. “We had chances to put points on the board in the first two drives. I had a feeling that would come back to haunt us.”

JaDarius Ealey was the leading rusher for the Green Wave with 27 yards on eight carries. Daniel Huffines had just 23 yards on 10 carries.

Cathedral (0-2) finally got on the scoreboard at the 1:26 mark of the second quarter when quarterback Dylan White scored on a 1-yard run. The extra point was no good and the Green Wave went into halftime leading 6-0.

But the defense could not hold that lead in the second half. Enterprise (2-1) took the lead when Cody Brister threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Garrett Greer and Lance Spring added the all-important extra point with 6:54 to go in the third quarter.

The Yellow Jackets then scored on a 10-yard run by Brister with 2:30 remaining in the ball game.

“We played hard, but we’ve got to improve offensively and defensively,” Beesley said. “Defense played well tonight. We shut them out in the first half. But they converted four fourth-down conversions. We’ve got to play more team defense.”

Dylan White completed 10 of 25 passes for 165 yards with no interceptions with Huffines catching six of those passes for 95 yards. Semmes White led Cathedral’s defense with nine tackles, three assists and one fumble recovery.
