Concordia Parish election Saturday

FERRIDAY — Some Concordia Parish residents still have important decisions to make on Saturday in the runoffs for Ferriday mayor and Vidalia District 2 alderman.

The contested runoff for Ferriday mayor is between incumbent Gene Allen and challenger Sherrie “Ms Mac” Jacobs.

Robert Lee Gardner Jr. and Raymond Murray are running for District 2 alderman. They were both challengers to incumbent Vernon Stevens, who finished third in the race on March 5.

A total of 517 people have voted early, 449 of those in person and 68 mail-in votes, officials with the Concordia Parish Registrar of Voters office said. In Ferriday, 295 early votes have been cast over three precincts compared to 222 early Vidalians voting in two precincts.

In the March 5 election, Jacobs received the majority of the Ferriday votes at 47 percent compared to Allen’s 35 percent in a four-person race.

Murray narrowly led Gardner in the Vidalia District 2 race, 39 to 36 percent.
