David and Sheri Smith of Crosby announce the engagement of their daughter, Amber Leann Smith to Cody Thomas Whitaker, son of Eli and Janet Whitaker Sr. of Woodville.

The bride-to-be is a 2010 graduate of Wilkinson County Christian Academy in Woodville and a 2016 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a bachelor of applied science degree in recreation administration. She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi National Sorority.

She is the granddaughter of the late Vernon and Mildred Smith of Crosby, the late Wayne Humphreys of Gloster and Buddy and Myra Barbo of Ochlocknee, Ga.

The groom-to-be is a 2009 graduate of Wilkinson County Christian Academy and a 2014 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a bachelor of applied science degree in criminal justice.

He is the grandson of Joy Whitaker and the late Tommy Whitaker of Woodville and the late James and Gloria Jelks of Centreville.

The wedding will be at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Monmouth Plantation in Natchez.

The couple will live in Bentonville, Ark.
