NATCHEZ — Natchez Mayor Butch Brown returned home Wednesday after a brief hospital stay.
Brown said he had experienced some swelling and numbness on his left side, which was briefly paralyzed following two light strokes in December.
He returned to work in February and has continued his physical therapy and rehabilitation.
Brown announced this month he would not run for re-election, due in part to his health and rehab schedule.
He traveled to Jackson for an evaluation of his symptoms Monday afternoon and stayed Tuesday, missing the regular meeting of the Natchez Board of Aldermen.
“I think it was a lot of fluid buildup,” Brown said. “That affects my schedule for rehab. So they were addressing the numbness issue.”
He said Wednesday morning he was happy to be heading home.
“Only the good die young, honey, remember that,” he said, joking.
