NATCHEZ — Services for Jerry Mulkey, 90, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at the Columns Community Care Center in Jonesville, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Cranfield Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Mulkey was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Franklin County, the son of Harper Mulkey and Lilly Mullins Mulkey. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the 157th Infantry and was a prisoner of war.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred Mulkey; two daughters, Sue Maxie and Connie Maxie; and a number of sisters and brothers.
Survivors include three daughters, Tonette Mulkey Owens and husband, Ronnie, of Ferriday, Renee Mulkey Westbrook and David Adair, both of Denham Springs, La., and Ann Maxie Huff and husband, James, of Natchez; one son, Bill Maxie and wife, Dee, of Natchez; nine grandchildren, Amanda Duncan, Jeremy Owens, Laura Ann White, Billy Maxie Jr., Billy Maxie III, Jerrie Dee Maxie, Velma Kate Maxie, Eva Sue Maxie and Milli Wagoner; a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren that he loved very much; and special friend, Raffi Barr of Vidalia.
