VIDALIA — Services for Frazier “Buddy” Temple, 81, of Vidalia, who died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. David Poole officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Temple was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Winnsboro, La., the son of George Temple and Rachael Temple. He had many roles during his working life. He started out with Holsum Bakery and later began working for himself. He started Temple Gravel Company and later Temple Oil and Gas, where he spent most of his working life. He was a hard worker, outgoing, a prankster and most of all a wheeler and dealer who was always looking for his next big deal. Buddy loved his 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. coffee shop gatherings at the Mobile Station and Nikki’s Restaurant in Vidalia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Temple; his parents; sister, Edna Williams; and son-in-law, Kenneth Netherland.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Netherland Laird and husband, John, of Ferriday; two sons, Roy Temple and wife, Lisa, of Ferriday and David Temple and wife, Dottie, of Ferriday; three granddaughters, Wendy Harkins and husband, Chad, Sandy Netherland Roberts and husband, Shad and LaNell Temple Briggs and husband, Andy; two grandsons, Brad Temple and wife, Marilyn and Richard Wayne Temple; seven great-grandchildren, Kelsey Briggs, Blaine Briggs, Brittney Temple, Raylyn Harkins, Kenneth Bryce Roberts, Payten Roberts and Dillon Temple; and three sisters, Ruby Greer of Crowville, La., Eunice Ellis of Vidalia and Georgia Mae Parker of Bastrop, La.

Pallbearers will be Wes White, Wayne Carter, Chad Harkins, Lloyd Eillis, John Laird and Andy Briggs.
