NATCHEZ — Services for Carl N. Wilt, 72, who died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church Natchez with the Rev. Denny Read and the Rev. Noelle Read officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time in Stratton Chapel.

Music will be provided by Sharon Rouse.

Mr. Wilt was born Oct. 30, 1943, in Tecumseh, Mich., the son of Elmer Wilt and Maxine Wilt.

He attended the Tecumseh public schools and received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University.

Carl and his wife, Sue Ann, were married Sept. 2, 1976, and retired to Natchez in 2002. He sold insurance for Metropolitan Life and later sold commercial food equipment while in Michigan.

Mr. Wilt had been active with the Natchez Retiree Partnership in Natchez prior to his illness.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Suzanne Wilt; his parents; one sister, Lois Jordan and her husband Denny Jordan; one brother, John Wilt; one nephew, Danny Wilt; and his in-laws, William and Marion Voigt.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Dr. Carla R. Messer; one grandson, Seth Brandon Messer; one sister, Ruth Lee; one brother, Robert Wilt and wife Tonie; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Wilt and Donna DeZwarte and husband, Mark; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearer will be Mike Halley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Natchez City Cemetery or a charity of choice.
