Authorities looking for missing Port Gibson fishermen

Port Gibson — Authorities continue to search for two Port Gibson fishermen missing since Wednesday afternoon.

Claiborne County Sheriff Frank Davis said the fishermen were last known to be near Bayou Pierre on the Louisiana side of the Mississippi River.Brothers Darryl, 30, and Joshua Wilson, 25, are commercial fishermen who were working from a boat for their family’s business, 61 Fish Market.

Davis said his office the U.S. Coast Guard, the Civil Air Patrol, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the Claiborne County Civil Defense and volunteer fishermen have been out on the river since Wednesday afternoon, The National Guard is on standby.

“The weather has played a factor in every part of it,” he said. “The biggest for us is that we haven’t been able to fly.

“It’s the worst time in the world for this weather to hit.”

Davis said the number of days the pair has been missing is a bad sign.“Unless they have found shelter,” he said. “We are hoping they have found shelter in one of the deer camps along the river.”
