RINGGOLD, Ga. — Graveside services for John Earl Smith, 65, who died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, in Chattanooga, Tenn., were Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Arrangements were under the direction of Layne Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born Dec. 13, 1950, in Woodville, the son of Floyd “Abner” Smith and Doris Pierce Smith.

He was retired from Yellow Freight.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Shelton Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Carla June Nelson Smith; three sons, Berton Smith and wife, Jennifer, Dean Smith and wife, Kelly, and Justin Bonner and wife, Tonya; three daughters, Melissa Johnson and husband, Robert, Amanda Fullington and Lindsey Nelson; two brothers, Sammy Smith and wife, Judy, and Mike Smith and wife, Nancy; two sisters, Alyce Hale and Belinda Orgrodnick and husband, John; and 12 grandchildren.
