FERRIDAY — Services for Ernest “Lil Sam” Tennessee, 73, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Heritage Manor Health and Rehab in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Eugene Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Tennessee was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Ferriday, the son of Leon and Bernice Cummings Tennessee. He was employed as an auto mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Mary Tolliver Tennessee; one daughter, Genny Thompson; one brother, Larry L. Tolliver; and one granddaughter, Sharda Lee.

Survivors include one daughter, Gale D. Lee of Ferriday; one son, Jessie Dixon of Detroit; six sisters, Maxine Tennessee, Deborah Steward, Jacqueline Foy and husband, Daniel, all of New Orleans, Lillie Sanders of Ferriday, Geraldine Faniel and Barbara N. Johnson and husband, Wilbur, all of Natchez; three grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Lizzie Hall of New Orleans.
