VIDALIA — Services for Warren William Maxie Jr., 89, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Calvary Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Ron Ledford and the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating.02:26 WarrenWMaxieJr. obitpic

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Maxie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was also a 32 degree Master Mason and a Noble of Wahabi Shrine Temple in Jackson.

Mr. Maxie was an honorary member of Pilgrimage Garden Club in Natchez. He was retired from National Life Insurance Company and loved hunting, fishing and traveling. His favorite hobby was spending time with his family and his grandchildren were the joy of his life. He was truly a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, who loved his Lord and Savior completely.

Mr. Maxie was preceded in death by his parents, Warren William Maxie Sr. and Florence Mae Maxie; a wife, Anabel Maxie; one sister, Elizabeth Rickard; one daughter, Shirley Ann Williamson; one granddaughter, Jenny LeAnne Cowan; and a special niece, Patricia Rickard.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Simmons Maxie; one son, William “Billy” Maxie and wife, Omayra, of Panama; two daughters, Gayle Cowan and husband, Dennis, of Ferriday and Cyndie Dillon and husband, Paul, of Vidalia; one stepson, Ronald K. Walker of Lake St. John; 13 grandchildren, Melissa Hall, Rebecca Ritchie, LeAnne Cowan, John Cowan, Amanda Cowan, Mariana Morris, Courtney Geoghegan, Charlotte Sibley, Stephen Dillon, James Dillon, Shirley Nicole Maxie, Rhonda Davin and Harlan Williamson; 23 great- grandchildren; and a number of special nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Paul Dillon, Stephen Dillon, James Dillon, John Cowan, David Sibley and John Austin Evans.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Cowan, James Huff, Ronnie Walker, Jesse Martin, Darrell Boles, and the deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jessie, Angie and Kim of Camellia Health Care and Hospice for their special care.
