NATCHEZ — Services for Viola Mearday, 71, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Fb. 9, 2016, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel in Natchez and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Mearday was born Nov. 1, 1944, in Adams County, the daughter of Peter and Louella Mearday.
She was a member of Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church and served on the usher board. She was retired from Natchez Steam Laundry.
Mrs. Mearday was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Oliver J. Mearday; three sisters, Doretha Mearday, Dorthy Mearday and Alberta King; and two brothers, Donald Lee Mearday and Peter Mearday.
Survivors include six nieces, Margaret Carter and husband, William, of Natchez, the Rev. Charlene Mearday of Chicago, Lisa Myles and husband, Jimmy, Vernessa Smith and husband, Willie, Amanda King and Carolyn Jackson, all of Natchez; 31 great-nieces and nephews; 42 great-great-nieces and nephews; a best friend, Ruby; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Antoine, Kenyon, Rolando, Corey Ray, Brandon, Jeremy and Marcus.
