NATCHEZ — The Natchez-Adams School District is hoping to get more input from parents and community stakeholders on its calendar options for the 2016-17 year.

Ultimately, internal stakeholders will decide between the two options presented, but board president Tim Blalock said comments from the outside have traditionally been low. Blalock said having the community’s voice expressed would be good.

The biggest differences between the two calendars centers on holidays. The first option has fewer days off for breaks, but the last day of class comes earlier for students.

Students would have to attend class until Dec. 21 for Christmas holidays, which end on Jan. 3. But the last day of class would be on Monday, May 22, which would also be a 60-percent day. This alternative also provides for a 60-percent day on homecoming Friday.

In the alternative, students would get a 60-percent day on Friday, Dec. 16, and be off Dec. 19 to Jan. 3, and get two days for Mardi Gras on Feb. 27-28. However, students would be in class until Thursday, May 25.
