NATCHEZ — Services for Pauline Day Smith, 83, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at her home, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Natchez Church of God with the Rev. Brian Monehan officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and noon until service time Tuesday at Natchez Church of God.

Mrs. Smith was born June 29, 1932, in Lucien, the daughter of Clifton Day and Ruth Laird Day.

She grew up in Lucien, graduated from Brookhaven High School and married her childhood sweetheart, Flavius Smith. They were married for 58 years. They moved to Natchez in 1950, where they brought up their daughters and lived the rest of their lives. Mrs. Smith loved her girls and taught them about Jesus. She was a talented seamstress and delighted in making beautiful clothes for her daughters. Mrs. Smith was a member of Natchez Church of God. She will be remembered best as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will also be remembered for her warm and gracious hospitality, opening her home and cooking delicious meals for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include three daughters, Angelia Smith Bukley and her husband Gilles Clément of Newport News, Virginia, Stephanie Smith Butts and her husband Russell of Natchez, and Melanie Smith Butter of Glen Allen, Va.; six grandchildren, Russ Butts, Hayden Butts, Molly Butts, Austin Butler, Andrew Butler and Amanda Butler; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a very loving caregiver, Dorothy Winters.

Pallbearers will be Russ Butts, Hayden Butts, Austin Butler, Andrew Butler, Shane Pollan and Josh Adams.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hollis Allred, Dan Day and Billy Day.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
