ECHOLS COUNTY, Ga. — Graveside services for Michael Leighton “Mickey” Petty Sr., 71, of Crosby, who died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after a long battle with cancer, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County, Ga.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.

Visitation will continue from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Roundtree Funeral Home in Homerville, Ga.

Mr. Petty was born March 6, 1944, in Homerville, the son of Zeke and Rocky Steedley Petty.

He was a Vietnam veteran and was retired from the Mississippi Army National Guard and the U.S. Postal Service.

Mickey was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his grandchildren and sitting outside on his porch drinking coffee and visiting with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Felton Petty; and one nephew, Deron Petty.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lois McGhee Petty; one daughter, Angela Petty Mize and husband, Danny, of Paducah, Ky.; one son, Michael Leighton Petty Jr. and wife, Stephanie, of Natchez; four grandchildren, Alyssa Mize, Danny Michael Mize Jr., Jordan Petty and Matt Petty; one brother, Kenneth Petty and wife, Shelby Jean, of Crosby; two sisters, Marvis Trowell of Homerville and Linda Combass and husband, Lamar, of Jennings, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
