NATCHEZ — An Adams County woman is behind bars after she allegedly escalated a disturbance by adding fire into the equation.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence on Mississippi 553 at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on a report that Amanda Nicole Hamilton, 31, of 4 Mississippi 553, was causing a disturbance.
“While en route, deputies were advised that Amanda had now begun to set parts of the house on fire but complainant was able to put it out,” reports at the ACSO said.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they were reportedly greeted with the sight of a man holding Hamilton down. After deputies told the man to let her go, Hamilton allegedly, “got up swinging and kicking at the complainant and when deputies tried to restrain her one of them was hit in the face and kicked in the knee,” the report said.
After Hamilton was subdued and arrested, the complainant showed deputies where Hamilton had allegedly broken windows of her car and in the house, and the site of the fire she had allegedly started in the living room.
The suspect and the complainant are in a dating relationship, officials with the ACSO said.
Hamilton was charged with resisting arrest, arson of a dwelling, disturbing the peace and assaulting law enforcement.
She was detained Thursday at the Adams County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
