Bernice Bartlett

MONROE, La. — Services for Bernice R. Bartlett, 89, of Monroe, La., who died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Christus St. Joseph’s Assisted Living, will be at 11 a.m. today at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, Sterlington Road, with Dr. Allison Moody officiating.

Burial will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bartlett was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, the Women’s Circle and Knit and Sew Group of the church, the board of directors of YMCA, CAR and DAR. Mrs. Bartlett was a volunteer at the Aviation Museum and at North Monroe Hospital.

She attended Georgia State Teachers College.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Bryant, and her second husband of 48 years, William “Bill” G. Bartlett Jr.; one daughter, Beverly Bryant Brown; and one granddaughter, Lynn Brown.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Paul and husband, Lloyd “Buddy” of Ferriday; two sons, William G. Bartlett III of Calhoun and Robert E. Bartlett and wife, Maureen, of Jackson, La.; one sister, Vera R. Culbreath of Decatur, Ga.; six grandchildren, Robert L. Brown, Aaron Paul, Jordan Bartlett, Chadwick Bartlett, Ryan Paul and Zachary Bartlett; one brother-in-law, James Bryant of Dallas; and lifelong friend, Mrs. Clyde McNair Parks of Clemson, S.C.

Pallbearers will be Robert Brown, Aaron Paul, Jordan Bartlett, Ryan Paul, Gary Caston, Ronnie Haneline and Richard Smith.
