Alcorn State University Sports Information Director Gus Howard said Wednesday morning that the school will introduce Alabama State Offensive Coordinator Melvin Spears as head football coach.

Spears, a former Braves receiver, replaces Earnest Collins, who left Alcorn in December to coach at his alma mater, Northern Colorado. He will be formally introduced at 2 p.m. today at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Jackson.
