Finding a pipe in the murky waters of the Mississippi River may have been harder than finding a needle in a haystack for a couple of divers who were looking for a pipe at Jones Lumber Company Friday afternoon. The pipe, which ordinarily discharges water into the river and was closed off during the flooding, allowed water to backflow into the site when it broke. The pipe break posed little risk to levees protecting the lumber company but needed to be capped using a balloon. Divers had to first locate the pipe in the muddy waters with little visibility and cold temperatures.
