NATCHEZ — One of the top teams in MAIS Class AAA played host to one of the best teams in MAIS Class AAAA Tuesday night when Adams County Christian School took on University Academy of CENLA.

And for two quarters, the game lived up to the hype.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point of the game, however, as the Lady Lions would take a double-digit lead and held on for a 57-50 win over the Lady Rebels.

University Academy had little issue dealing with ACCS’s press defense and led 19-18 at the end of the first quarter.

University Academy led 32-30 at the half.

Almost nothing went right for ACCS on either end of the court in the third. University Academy put up 14 points to just five points for the Lady Rebels to extend its lead to 46-35.

ACCS outscored the Lady Lions 15-11 in the final period.

Anna McDaniel led the Lady Rebels with 14 points and Bailey Boyd added 10 points. Jada Swafford led the Lady Lions with a game-high 27 points.

ACCS (15-5) returns to District 4-AAA action at 6 p.m. Friday when it hosts Laurel Christian School.

Jefferson County 47, Brookhaven 31

BROOKHAVEN — Jefferson County senior center Diamond Smith had a game to remember and one that Brookhaven would rather not see anytime soon. Smith registered a triple double to help left the Lady Tigers past the Lady Panthers 47-31 Tuesday night.

Smith’s triple-double was unusual — she scored 21 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked 11 shots.

“Diamond had a good game on both ends of the floor,” Jefferson County head coach Flora McKnight said. “She left some points on the floor, but she played well.”

Antrell Gales chipped in with 15 points and Kailyn Hammett dished out 13 assists for the Lady Tigers.

Jefferson County (12-3) returns to Region 7-3A play at 6 p.m. Friday when it plays at Port Gibson.

Cathedral 56, MSD 51

JACKSON — Elizabeth Smith scored a game-high 20 points and Natalie Fletcher had 13 points as Cathedral held on for a 56-51 win over Mississippi School Tuesday night.

Cathedral played strong defense in the early stages of the game and led MSD 15-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Shanieka Coleman led MSD with 15 points, while Kylisha Cathey and Nilay Orey had 14 points apiece.

Cathedral (13-4) plays host to Madison St. Joseph at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Ferriday 62, General Trass 38

LAKE PROVIDENCE, La. — Anasia Turner led Ferriday with a game-high 28 points and LaKeshanna Harris poured in 14 points as the Lady Trojans cruised to a 62-38 win over General Tuesday night in their LHSAA District 2-2A opener.

Ferriday had its way with General Trass through the first three quarters. The Lady Trojans jumped out to a 21-7 lead after one quarter of play, and then had a commanding 43-12 halftime lead. The score was 58-18 at the end of the third quarter.

Ferriday (6-10, 1-0) plays host to Rayville in District 2-2A action at 6 p.m. Friday.

Winnfield 75, Vidalia 51

VIDALIA — Jasmine King scored a game-high 17 points and led five Winnfield players in double figures as the Lady Tigers defeated Vidalia 75-51 Tuesday night in an LHSAA District 3-3A game.

Bre’Honor Harris led the Lady Vikings with 16 points and Bri’anna Tolliver added 12 points.

Vidalia (7-11, 1-4) plays at 6 p.m. Friday at District 3-3A foe Buckeye.

Monterey 35, Oak Hill 25

HINESTON, La. — Sydney Woodruff led Monterey with a game-high 13 points and Bailey Book had nine as the Lady Wolves overcame a bad first quarter to defeat Oak Hill 35-25 in its LHSAA District 5-B opener Tuesday night.

The Lady Wolves controlled a 14-10 halftime lead.

Monterey (14-8, 1-0) plays host to District 5-B opponent Glenmora at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Delta Charter 59, Delhi Charter 44

DELHI, La. — Kiaci Parker led Delta Charter School with 16 points and Kierra Neal added 15 points as the Lady Storm defeated Delhi Charter 59-44 to pick up their first win in LHSAA District 2-1A.

Cloi Cummings chipped in with 14 points for the Lady Storm.

Delta Charter (1-3 in district) plays host to Sicily Island at 6 p.m. Thursday.
